More than 13,000 illegally imported chicken eggs were found at an Almaty market

The territorial inspection of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the city of Almaty, together with the Department of Trade and Consumer Rights Protection and the Union of Poultry Farmers of Kazakhstan, conducted another raid at city trade facilities to ensure veterinary safety.
During an inspection of the "Barys-IV" market, inspection specialists discovered chicken eggs being sold without veterinary accompanying documents, proper labeling, and special packaging. A total of 13,680 eggs were removed from illegal circulation.
In accordance with the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses, relevant protocols were drawn up. Fines totaling 1,297,500 tenge were imposed on the guilty persons.
In accordance with the Rules for the Destruction of Food Products Posing a Threat to Human and Animal Health, as well as the Environment (Government Resolution of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 140), on June 10, 2026, the seized 13,680 eggs were transported to the city cattle burial ground and placed in a "Becker pit," where they were preserved using a biothermal method.
Following the identification of violations, explanatory work was conducted with the heads of wholesale and retail trade organizations regarding compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements. Official letters were also sent prohibiting the sale of products illegally imported from other countries.
