Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev held a meeting with State Secretary for Trade of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Diana Janse.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed current issues of trade and economic cooperation, prospects for increasing mutual trade turnover, attracting investments, and expanding interaction between the business communities of the two countries.

Special attention was paid to trade facilitation issues, including simplifying market access for products to the markets of Kazakhstan and Sweden, eliminating technical barriers, improving logistics and customs procedures, as well as creating favorable conditions for the development of export-import operations.

The Kazakh side confirmed its interest in expanding supplies of domestic non-commodity products to the Swedish and European Union markets. In this regard, opportunities for deepening cooperation between QazTrade, the Swedish National Board of Trade, and Business Sweden were discussed to support exporters and develop direct business contacts.

The meeting participants paid separate attention to issues of industrial cooperation. The parties welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between Hyundai Trans Almaty and the Volvo Group. It is expected that the implementation of the project will contribute to the development of domestic mechanical engineering, the creation of new production capacities, attracting investments, and strengthening Kazakhstan's export potential.

During the negotiations, prospects for expanding the presence of Swedish businesses in the Kazakh market were also considered. Kazakhstan expressed interest in developing cooperation with leading Swedish companies, including the possibility of opening IKEA stores in the country.

The parties noted the importance of establishing a Kazakh-Swedish Commission on Trade, Economic, and Investment Cooperation, which will become an effective platform for promoting joint projects and addressing current business issues.

Following the meeting, the mutual interest of Kazakhstan and Sweden in further strengthening trade and economic partnership, expanding investment interaction, and implementing new joint initiatives was confirmed.
