ONLINE BROADCAST: EXPLANATION OF LABOR LEGISLATION PROVISIONS REGARDING EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEES FOR PREGNANT WOMEN

On June 17, 2026, in accordance with the approved schedule of live online broadcasts on social media platforms, State Labor Inspector of the Karaganda Region, Zh. K. Zhanbekova, conducted an informational and awareness-raising online session on the topic: “Employment Guarantees for Pregnant Women under the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

During the broadcast, the key provisions of the labor legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan governing guarantees and the protection of labor rights of pregnant women were discussed. Participants were provided with explanations of the provisions of the Labor Code concerning the regulation of the employment of pregnant employees, the procedure for granting maternity leave, transfer to lighter duties based on medical recommendations, as well as other social and labor guarantees.

Particular attention was paid to the prohibition of discrimination in hiring on the grounds of pregnancy, restrictions on engaging pregnant women in work involving harmful or hazardous working conditions, overtime work, night work, and work on weekends and public holidays in cases stipulated by law.

During the online session, participants received clarifications regarding job retention during maternity leave, guarantees related to the termination of employment contracts, and employers’ liability for violations of the labor rights of pregnant women. Information was also provided on state protection measures and mechanisms for seeking protection of labor rights.

The organization of such online events contributes to improving public legal awareness, informing citizens about the social and labor guarantees established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and strengthening a culture of compliance with labor rights and the legitimate interests of employees.
