On the Results of the Working Visit of the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan to Luxembourg

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Berik Asylov, paid a working visit to Luxembourg.
During the visit, the head of Kazakhstan’s prosecutorial authority held a meeting with the European Chief Prosecutor, Laura Kövesi.
The parties discussed issues of international cooperation in criminal justice, joint efforts to combat current forms of crime, including transnational crime, the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, as well as asset tracing and recovery.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO).
The Agreement establishes a legal framework for direct cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan and prosecutors of the European Union. It provides for the exchange of operational information, the establishment of joint investigation teams, and cooperation on matters related to the extradition of offenders, as well as the tracing, seizure, and confiscation of criminal proceeds.
Mr. Asylov also met with the Prosecutor General of Luxembourg, John Petry.
The interlocutors held in-depth discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation in combating crime, strengthening the rule of law and public order, improving mechanisms for mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and exchanging best practices and expertise in prosecutorial work.
At the conclusion of the meetings, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.
