A grand opening ceremony for the railway station in Zhanakorgan was held after a major renovation. The event was attended by Murat Ergeshbayev, Akim of Kyzylorda Region; Zhanibek Taizhanov, Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who was visiting the region on a working visit; Murat Tleumbetov, Chairman of the Regional Maslikhat; Nauryzbay Baikadamov, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Korkyt Ata University in Kyzylorda; and representatives of the intelligentsia and the public.
As a reminder, 124 railway stations are being modernized in Kazakhstan at the direction of the Head of State. Last year, at the initiative of Nurlybek Mashbekovich, the former Akim of Kyzylorda Region, the reconstruction program included stations in all district centers of the region, the Toretam and Sekseul stations, and the passenger platform at Talap station in Zhanakorgan District. Approximately 10 billion tenge has been allocated for the project to modernize all railway stations in the region. Speaking at the ceremony, Murat Ergeshbayev noted that the renovated railway stations will be modern, safe, and comfortable facilities that meet the demands of the times.
"Kyzylorda Region is located at the intersection of important transport routes linking Kazakhstan's regions and international destinations. Thousands of passengers and foreign tourists pass through the region daily, so modernizing the stations is of great importance for both residents and visitors.
Today, we are opening the railway station in the village of Zhanakorgan after reconstruction. Over 1 billion tenge was allocated for its modernization. The facility covers 8,838 square meters, and its capacity is up to 121 passengers per day. During the renovation, the building's façade and foundation were renovated, the roof, doors, and windows were replaced, new utility lines and a heating system were installed, and the platform area was landscaped. The station is equipped with modern equipment and fully complies with current quality standards.
The station in Shieli has also opened, and the station in the Kazaly District will be opened tomorrow after reconstruction. "I am confident that every passenger and tourist visiting our region will appreciate the level of service and comfort of the renovated facilities",- the regional governor emphasized.
Deputy Minister of Transport Zhanibek Tayzhanov and veteran of labor Saulebek Kalybayev also spoke at the ceremony. Rail industry workers and representatives of contractors were awarded Letters of Appreciation from the regional akim.
Currently, 15 passenger trains pass through the Kyzylorda region, and six trains depart from the regional capital, traveling to Astana, Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Semey, and Turkestan. Furthermore, over 80 kilometers of track are undergoing major repairs in the region.
As part of the President's directive to modernize rail infrastructure, the Kyzylorda railway station was overhauled and improved in 2024. Reconstruction of seven stations and two service centers in Terenozek and Zhalagash is also ongoing. At Talap station, the modernization of the passenger platform with an area of 1,188 square meters has been completed at a cost of 322 million tenge.
