During a working trip to Zhalagash district, Akim of the region Murat Ergeshbayev visited the sown areas. He familiarized himself with the current state of the agro-industrial cluster project of the company «Harvest Agro», aimed at growing industrial hemp, corn, and soybeans, as well as their processing.
A land plot of 22.5 thousand hectares from the Karaketken rural district has been allocated for the project. Of these, 5 thousand hectares are sown with corn, 2 thousand hectares — with safflower, and 142 sprinkler irrigation units are in operation. After the enterprise is put into operation, it is planned to process up to 60 thousand tons of industrial hemp, 70 thousand tons of corn, and 20 thousand tons of soybeans annually.
The produced goods, in addition to meeting the needs of the domestic market, will also be exported to foreign countries.
To date, 26.3 billion tenge of investments have been attracted, and 100 permanent jobs have been created. 50 units of machinery are involved in sowing and production work.
Work is underway to increase the land area, water use limits, introduce a sprinkler irrigation system, lay electrical networks, and develop design and estimate documentation.
It should be noted that this year a total of 185.8 thousand hectares have been sown in the region, of which grain crops account for — 89.7 thousand hectares, oilseeds — 6.1 thousand hectares, fodder crops — 73.2 thousand hectares, potatoes, vegetables, and melons — 16.8 thousand hectares.
In accordance with the instruction of the Head of State, compared to last year, the rice area has been reduced by 10.9 thousand hectares. This year, rice has been sown and flooded on 70 thousand hectares.
Of these, 31.3 thousand hectares have received top dressing, and 53.3 thousand hectares have been treated against weeds. Currently, 19.8 thousand hectares are in the tillering phase, 46.2 thousand hectares — in the stem elongation phase, and 4 thousand hectares have entered the heading phase.
