A major investment forum dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the formation of the Kostanay region was held in the city of Kostanay. The Head of State sent special congratulations to the residents of the region on the occasion of the anniversary.
When creating the Kostanay region, the region was mainly assigned the role of a raw material base. After gaining Independence, the new economic conditions set completely different tasks for the region. The region has embarked on a transition from raw material production to deep processing, the introduction of modern technologies and the production of high-value-added products.
"Today, Kostanay region has transformed from an agricultural and raw materials region into one of the largest industrial centers in Kazakhstan. In terms of manufacturing industry, the region ranks fourth in the country. Kostanay region has become a leader in domestic engineering. A quarter of all the products of the machine–building industry of Kazakhstan are produced here," said Akim of the region Kumar Aksakalov.
There are seven modern power plants in the region with a total capacity of more than 270 MW. In the coming years, it is planned to commission 165 wind power plants with a total capacity of 1.2 GW. Due to this, the volume of green energy production in the region will increase by more than 32 times.
Kostanay region is also a leader in the field of deep processing of agricultural products. The region ranks first in Kazakhstan in the export of processed agricultural products and second in food production.
In recent years, modern dairy complexes, enterprises for the production of cheeses, dried mare's milk, pasta, as well as the largest plants for processing legumes have been built in the region. The construction of a new confectionery factory is currently being completed.
"The next strategic direction of the region's development will be the implementation of projects for deep grain processing with the production of bioethanol and aviation fuel based on it. As part of the infrastructure development, thousands of kilometers of highways have been reconstructed in all major directions leading from the region. Kostanay International Airport has been upgraded. On behalf of the Head of State, a new airport is being built in the city of Arkalyk. Three modern hotel complexes will also be built in Kostanay under the global brands Marriott, Novotel and Holiday Inn," Kumar Aksakalov emphasized.
Significant results have also been achieved in the social sphere. New schools and healthcare facilities have been built in the region, including in the most remote rural settlements. Sports and recreation complexes are open in almost every district.
The Governor of the region noted that the main wealth of the region is its residents, their conscientious work and invaluable contribution to the development and prosperity of their native land.
