First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Meets with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China

The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Ashikbayev received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Kazakhstan Han Chunlin.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation within multilateral frameworks and exchanged views on key issues of the regional and international agenda.

First Deputy Minister Ashikbayev paid particular attention to the nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation agenda, noting that 2026 is marked by a number of commemorative dates in this field. August 29 marks the 35th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site, September 8 marks 20 years since the signing of the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia (the Semipalatinsk Treaty), and September 24 marks 30 years since the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty was opened for signature.

PRC Ambassador Han Chunlin confirmed the Chinese side’s readiness to further develop cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain a regular political dialogue and continue working toward the expansion of the Kazakh-Chinese partnership.
