Vienna, 3 September 2026 – The delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the first resumed seventeenth session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, held at the Vienna International Centre from 31 August to 4 September 2026.

During the session, States considered preparations for the second phase of the Implementation Review Mechanism, improvements to country review procedures, the application of information technology solutions, and the provision of technical assistance to States parties.

Speaking during the discussion on the implementation of the Convention, the head of the Kazakh delegation underscored its importance as the principal universal international legal instrument for combating corruption and welcomed the launch of the second phase of the Implementation Review Mechanism.

Participants were briefed on the institutional and legislative reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan, including the reorganization of the Anti-Corruption Agency into the Anti-Corruption Service of the National Security Committee. The delegation also highlighted the introduction of liability for promising, offering and soliciting a bribe, the expansion of the scope of persons subject to liability for corruption offences, and the strengthening of the liability of legal entities.

The delegation of Kazakhstan also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in mutual legal assistance, information exchange, asset tracking and recovery, extradition, and joint investigations. Kazakhstan reaffirmed its commitment to constructive cooperation and the practical implementation of the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
