Mediation and Preventive Diplomacy in Focus of Kazakhstan-Switzerland Cooperation

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Issetov during his working visit to Switzerland held a meeting with Director of the Peace and Human Rights Division of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Ambassador Tim Enderlin.
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on mediation and preventive diplomacy, as well as on practical aspects of mediation efforts. Particular attention was paid to opportunities for further cooperation and the exchange of experience.
Deputy Minister Issetov underscored the importance of the peaceful settlement of conflicts and highlighted the role of dialogue, mediation and preventive mechanisms in strengthening confidence-building measures, preventing crises and maintaining international peace and security.
For his part, Ambassador Enderlin presented Swiss approaches to developing mediation expertise, including the training of specialists. Switzerland has been systematically developing its expert capacity in this field for decades and has extensive experience in the professional training of specialists involved in peacekeeping and mediation processes.
Following the meeting, the two countries reaffirmed their interest in continuing expert exchanges and expanding cooperation on mediation and preventive diplomacy.
