Athens, 10 September 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece Timur Sultangozhin held a meeting with Member of the Hellenic Parliament and Co-Chair of the Kazakhstan–Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group Evangelos Syrigos.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan–Greece relations, with particular emphasis on the further development of interparliamentary dialogue and the strengthening of direct contacts between the legislative bodies of the two countries. The important role of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in advancing bilateral cooperation was highlighted.

The sides exchanged views on cooperation between Kazakh and Greek parliamentarians within the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and other international parliamentary fora, as well as on topical issues of the regional and international agenda.

The Ambassador briefed his counterpart on the first elections to the Kurultai held on 23 August, with particular emphasis on international observation of the electoral process. The voting was monitored by 777 international observers, including 138 parliamentarians from 41 countries, as well as representatives of 13 international organisations. The importance of international parliamentary observation was noted in the context of the ongoing political and institutional reforms in Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh diplomat also spoke about the formation of the new Government, the establishment of the position of Vice President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the continued implementation of political reforms in the country.

In addition, the interlocutor was briefed on the activities of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and its role in promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue.

Following the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening interparliamentary ties and consistently developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Greece.
