On September 10–11, 2026, Almaty hosted the Third Meeting of Emerging Development Partners and a seminar dedicated to the UN Day for South-South Cooperation within the framework of Official Development Assistance (ODA). The event was organized by the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development KazAID in cooperation with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA).

The first and second meetings of Emerging Development Partners were organized by ESCAP in Indonesia (2024) and Colombia (2025). The meeting in Almaty brought together representatives of development agencies and ministries of foreign affairs from Southeast and South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Latin America, as well as Central Asian countries and Mongolia as observers.

In his welcoming address, KazAID Chairman of the Board Nurgali Arystanov highlighted the growing role of several developing nations operating as key development partners by sharing their experience, resources, and contributing to international development assistance.

During the session, participants held an extensive exchange of views on addressing key tasks on the international development assistance agenda as well as South-South and triangular cooperation.

Following the meeting, participants outlined priority areas to formulate a joint action plan for 2027–2028.
