Tenth North and Central Asia Multi-Stakeholder Forum on the Implementation of the SDGs held at «UN Plaza» in Almaty

Almaty, September 16, 2026 - Ambassador-at-Large – Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty Zhanibek Abdrashov participated and delivered opening remarks at the Tenth North and Central Asia Multi-Stakeholder Forum on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the «UN Plaza».
The event was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) Subregional Office for North and Central Asia, in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Ambassador emphasised the importance of strengthened regional cooperation in addressing shared challenges, including climate change, water security, digital transformation and human capital development.
Special attention was paid to the importance of the UN Regional Centre in Almaty as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices, fostering partnerships and advancing joint solutions for sustainable development in Central Asia and Afghanistan.
The forum addressed a range of issues, including quality education, reducing inequalities, sustainable consumption and production, the protection of terrestrial ecosystems, as well as development financing, regional cooperation and multilateral partnerships.
The event brought together representatives of the United Nations and its specialized agencies, international and regional organizations, as well as representatives of the countries of North and Central Asia, academia, civil society and the private sector.
