Today, the opening ceremony of the Toretam Railway Station was held. The event was attended by Kyzylorda Region Akim Murat Yergesbayev, who was on a working visit to Karmakshy District, as well as members of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Kozhanyazov, Nurken Bakytbekuly, Magzhan Yeraliev and Irina Ten, maslikhat deputies, representatives of the intellectual community and respected residents of the district.

The regional akim spoke about the ongoing work to develop railway infrastructure and emphasized that modernizing railway stations in line with current standards is important both for local residents and for guests visiting the region.

“Kyzylorda Region is located at the crossroads of nine roads and serves as an important transport corridor connecting different regions. Fifteen passenger trains pass through the territory of the region. Railway services connect the regional center with the cities of Astana, Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Semey and Turkistan.

Today is a joyful day for Karmakshy District, a sacred land where Korkyt Ata was born! Together with you, we are commissioning two projects of great importance to our region – the Toretam and Zhosaly railway stations. We wish success to all initiatives aimed at serving the people!

We also express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the major renovation of this facility.

During the ceremony, Kurultai deputy Magzhan Yeraliev delivered a speech, while Askar Merekov, Chairman of the Karmakshy District Council of Veterans, gave a traditional blessing.

Employees of the railway sector and the contractor organization were awarded Letters of Appreciation from the regional akim.

The history of Toretam Railway Station is closely connected with the construction and development of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Construction materials, equipment and cargo required for the cosmodrome were transported through the station.

The renovated railway station is capable of serving up to 250 passengers per day. As part of the major renovation, the building’s façade and foundation were refurbished, while the roofing, doors and windows were replaced. The electrical networks were upgraded, a heating system was installed, and the facility was equipped in accordance with modern requirements.

The station now includes a passenger waiting hall, dedicated rooms for passengers with disabilities and passengers travelling with children, as well as a medical пункт.

A total of 1 billion tenge was allocated for the renovation of the railway station.
