Today, as part of Kyzylorda Region Akim Murat Yergesbayev’s working visit to Karmakshy District, an opening ceremony was held for the renovated Zhosaly Railway Station. The event was attended by members of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Kozhanyazov, Nurken Bakytbekuly, Magzhan Yeraliev and Irina Ten, maslikhat deputies, representatives of the intellectual community and respected residents of the district.

“The history of Zhosaly settlement dates back to the early 20th century, when it was established as a railway station. The station, built in 1905, was named ‘Zhosaly’. As it was located along the Orenburg–Tashkent railway line, it played an important role in passenger and freight transportation from that time onward.

The construction of the railway contributed to the development of Zhosaly as an economic and administrative center.

Throughout different historical periods, it became an important transport facility not only for the region but also for the industrial development of the country. The major renovation and reconstruction of this historic building, which has served passengers and railway workers for more than a century, is an important step connecting the past with the present,” said Murat Nalkozhauly.

During the ceremony, employees of the railway sector and the contractor involved in the reconstruction works were awarded Letters of Appreciation from the regional akim. Kurultai deputy Nurken Bakytbekuly delivered congratulatory remarks, while Askar Merekov, an honorary citizen of Karmakshy District, gave a traditional blessing.

The history of Zhosaly Railway Station dates back to the beginning of the last century.

The Orenburg–Tashkent railway, which crossed the Kazakh steppe and connected Central Asia with Russia, became one of the key railway points along the Syr Darya and contributed to the development of passenger transportation.

During the Soviet period, houses for railway workers, workshops and service buildings were constructed around the station, and Zhosaly gradually developed into a railway workers’ settlement.

The facility was last renovated in 2012. Today, it has been fully reconstructed, providing improved and more comfortable conditions for passengers. A total of 986 million tenge was allocated for the large-scale renovation works. The railway station, with a total area of 674.6 square meters, can serve up to 200 passengers per day.

As part of the renovation, the building’s façade and foundation were refurbished, while the roof covering, doors and windows were replaced. Electrical networks were installed, a heating system was provided, and the platform area was landscaped.

For passengers’ convenience, the station now includes a waiting hall, a mother-and-child room, a medical пункт, a luggage storage facility, and a dedicated room for passengers with disabilities.
