Today, at the Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, the issue of ensuring road and pedestrian safety was considered. Akim of the region Murat Ergeshbayev participated in the meeting via conference call.
Following the results of the Government meeting, a number of specific instructions were given to the responsible heads of departments.
The head of the region instructed to install road signs on highways and streets, and to update worn-out road signs. It is necessary to intensify outreach work with residents of settlements along the "Western Europe – Western China" highway corridor regarding the prevention of unsupervised livestock grazing.
The Regional Police Department has been instructed to identify accident-prone sections on highways and to conduct regular raid activities aimed at ensuring compliance with traffic rules.
In addition, the regional branch of JSC "NC "KazAvtoZhol" has been instructed to monitor the reconstruction works of the bypass road in the direction of "Kyzylorda – Aktobe" and the highway "Kyzylorda – Saksaulsk".
Out of 3,525 kilometers of highways in the region, 1,025 kilometers are of republican significance, 555 kilometers are of regional significance, and 1,945 kilometers are of district significance.
This year, 40.5 billion tenge has been allocated from the republican, regional, and district budgets for the development of road infrastructure. These funds are being used to repair 168 kilometers of highways, streets, and bridge crossings. Modern control devices are being installed to ensure road safety. Traffic accidents involving pedestrians have been analyzed, and 15 "Sunqar" devices have been installed in dangerous sections.
539 video surveillance cameras and 49 speed meters have been launched in the districts. In the city of Kyzylorda, 1,400 video surveillance cameras, 80 intelligent intersections, and 96 stationary speed meters are in operation.
