Astana was included in the list of 15 finalists for the international «WIPO City of Innovation - 2026» award, established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). 

The award aims to support cities developing an innovative and creative ecosystem, with the selection conducted by an international independent jury based on the initiatives and implementation plans presented by the cities. 

Applications were received from cities of various sizes worldwide, and alongside Astana, the 15 finalists include cities from Belgium, China, India, Jordan, Morocco, the Philippines, Portugal, the Russian Federation, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. 

The winners will be announced on October 12, 2026, at a ceremony at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, taking place on the sidelines of the sixth meeting of the UN Mayors Forum.
