Karaganda MMA fighter Sanzhar Adilov wins historic Asian Games medal.

The 30-year-old athlete competed in the under 65 kg weight category in the "Traditional" division, where participants fight in sports kimonos. In the quarterfinals, Adilov secured a victory, but in the semifinals, he suffered a defeat to Tajikistan's Otabek Rajabov by unanimous decision. According to the regulations, a separate bout for third place is not provided. Thus, Adilov, along with the loser in the other semifinal, will receive a bronze medal.

This is the seventh medal for the Kazakhstan national team at the 2026 Asian Games and the first in history in MMA. Mixed martial arts were included in the Summer Games program for the first time. Thus, Sanzhar Adilov has become one of the first Kazakhstani athletes to win a medal in MMA at the Asian Games. Congratulations!
