A ceremonial time capsule laying event was held in Astana to mark the start of construction of the new Coventry University Kazakhstan campus.

The new campus will become part of the capital’s modern educational infrastructure, combining British academic standards and international expertise with opportunities to pursue internationally recognised higher education in Kazakhstan.

The ceremony was attended by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek; Deputy Akim of Astana, Talgat Rakhmanberdi; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom, Alibek Bakayev; Lord John Alderdice, a member of the UK House of Lords and the UK Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan and Central Asia; and representatives of the leadership of Coventry University and Coventry University Kazakhstan.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Astana city administration. It will expand access to international higher education programmes for Kazakhstani students, foster academic ties between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom, and contribute to the development of the capital’s educational infrastructure and its role as a regional centre for international education.
