New York, September 23, 2026 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi took part in a high-level discussion entitled “Reaffirming the Promise of Peace: Using the Power We Have”.

The discussion focused on pressing challenges to international peace and security, ways to strengthen confidence and reduce tensions, as well as enhancing the effectiveness of UN tools for conflict prevention and resolution. Particular attention was paid to preventive diplomacy, mediation, and strengthening partnerships between the United Nations and other actors involved in international processes.

The discussion was attended by Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Safadi, Prime Minister of Iceland Kristrún Frostadóttir, and other high-level representatives of states. The discussion was moderated by Comfort Ero, President and CEO of the International Crisis Group.

Participants exchanged views on ways to strengthen the role of the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security and to make more effective use of existing mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes.
