A field training exercise for artillery and anti-aircraft units of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan is being held at the Karatau Training Centre near Shymkent from September 21 to 25.

As part of the field exercise, more than 100 Guardsmen from the mortar and anti-aircraft batteries are improving the skills of their crews and practising coordination and accuracy while carrying out fire missions at the training centre of Military Unit 6506.

The main objective of the field exercise is to improve the servicemen’s professional training and maintain the units’ constant readiness to perform their assigned tasks.

The choice of the Karatau area also has practical significance. Its mountainous and rugged terrain allows training to be conducted in conditions that closely simulate various real-world situations.

The servicemen are learning to navigate the terrain quickly, take its specific features into account and maintain effective coordination within their units.

It should be noted that this field exercise is of particular importance for the law and order troops. It was in Shymkent, at Military Unit 6506, that the agency’s first artillery and anti-aircraft unit was formed. Similar units were subsequently established in Petropavlovsk and Aktobe.

The challenging terrain of Karatau provides the Guardsmen with an additional element of training. In the field, the accuracy of the overall mission depends on the actions of each crew member, while the unit’s coordination is tested directly under field conditions.
