Kazakhstan ranks 32nd globally in accreditation development according to the Global Quality Infrastructure Index 2025

Kazakhstan ranked 32nd globally in terms of accreditation development, according to the 2025 Global Quality Infrastructure Index (GQII).

In the overall GQII 2025 ranking, Kazakhstan placed 48th among 185 countries. The country’s performance is assessed across three key components of national quality infrastructure: accreditation, metrology and standardisation.

Kazakhstan recorded its highest position in accreditation, ranking 32nd. The country ranked 43rd in metrology and 70th in standardisation.

Accreditation is one of the key elements of quality infrastructure. It provides formal recognition of the competence of conformity assessment bodies, including testing and calibration laboratories, certification bodies and inspection bodies. An effective accreditation system helps strengthen confidence in testing, measurement and certification results and creates conditions for their international recognition.

The Global Quality Infrastructure Index (GQII) enables the level of development of quality infrastructure systems in different countries to be compared. The ranking is based on data covering accreditation, standardisation and metrology.

According to GQII, the index is compiled using publicly available data from official quality infrastructure institutions. This includes information from international organisations and national bodies working in the fields of metrology, standardisation and accreditation.

The GQII results provide an opportunity to assess the state of national quality infrastructure and track its development in an international context. A well-developed quality infrastructure plays an important role in building confidence in products and services, supporting international trade and strengthening economic competitiveness.

The Global Quality Infrastructure Index (GQII) is an initiative of Mesopartner and is implemented with long-term financial and technical support from the German National Metrology Institute (PTB) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with the participation of national quality infrastructure bodies and international experts. Since 2023, the project has also been working closely with UNIDO and INetQI partners.
