Belgrade, 1 October 2026 – As part of the annual international Ethnology Fest, a presentation of Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage was held, with Kazakhstan selected this year as the “Country in Focus”.

The event, held at the Ethnographic Museum under the patronage Mrs. Tamara Vučić, was attended by Serbian Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, Minister for Gender Equality Tatjana Macura, representatives of the Serbian media, business, cultural and academic communities, as well as members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Serbia.

The programme featured works by the Kazakh fashion house Aspara, as well as a musical performance by renowned Kazakh performer Akerke Tazhibayeva.

Opening the event, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Serbia Bolat Imanbayev noted that Kazakhstan carefully preserves the heritage and traditions of the Great Steppe, consistently develops the nation’s cultural code for transmission to future generations, and harmoniously combines it with contemporary culture.

He also emphasised the importance of cultural diplomacy as a foundation for strengthening relations between Kazakhstan and Serbia, which are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

Festival guests showed great interest in the works of Kazakh designers, highlighting the distinctive character of Kazakh traditions and national art. Particular attention was given to the national costumes presented, contemporary interpretations of traditional elements, and musical creativity.

Ethnology Fest is an annual international festival dedicated to promoting intangible cultural heritage, preserving cultural identity, and bringing traditional crafts together with contemporary fashion. In 2026, as part of the festival’s 10th anniversary, the participation of the Kazakh creative team was supported by the Qazaq Creative Foundation for the Development of Creative Industries.
