NU HAS JOINED AN INTERNATIONAL STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF AI ON HIGHER EDUCATION
NU has joined a global research consortium aimed at exploring the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education. The research will take place in Africa, Asia, North and South America.
The consortium, led by the World Summit on Innovation in Education (WISE) and the Institute of International Education (IIE), brings together seven universities that over the next 12 months will explore ways to integrate AI into educational systems in a way that helps students be better prepared for the demands of a global economy where the role of AI will become undeniable.
"As part of this initiative, NU will conduct a multi—purpose study focusing on teaching and learning methods at different levels - from Foundation to undergraduate and graduate degrees. This is a very important study, as it will bring to the fore the best practices of using AI for teaching and learning in universities. The invitation to participate in the project reflects the strength of NU's reputation in the region and its commitment to the development of education through innovation," said Aida Nuranova, NU expert on vocational training and development, one of the members of the university team involved in the project.
The university will also participate in a series of seminars aimed at joint learning and knowledge exchange between members of the consortium, which includes the University of Pennsylvania (USA), Universidad Camilo José Cela (Spain), Ashesi University (Ghana), Birla Institute of Technology & Science (India), Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Qatar) and Kazakh NU.
The official launch of the WISE Global Research Consortium was given at a meeting in New York that coincided with the UN General Assembly. Speaking about the development of the consortium, WISE CEO Stavros Yannuka noted: "This is the first time that we have created a multi-partner research consortium of this kind, which will allow us to study this topic in different regions and from different points of view, which will give a new understanding taking into account regional peculiarities. Our goal is to promote the formation of policies and practices, and to ensure that the most advanced technologies are used for the benefit of quality education for all."
During the meeting, the consortium members took part in a seminar and panel discussion, where they exchanged ideas on how AI can be most effectively used in higher education. Aida Nuranova spoke about the university's current research, discussing with other experts what the development of AI could mean for the future of education in general.
The results of the research project will be presented at the next WISE summit, which will be held in Qatar next November. Through its participation, NU not only contributes to shaping the future of AI in education, but also strengthens its global connections and leadership in innovative educational practices.
