A new principle for the sanitary maintenance of courtyards and the road network has been introduced in Almaty. Mayor of the city Yerbolat Dosayev announced this at an extraordinary session of the city maslikhat, during which the budget of the metropolis for 2025-2027 was considered.
"For the first time, the Akimat has introduced the practice of concluding three-year contracts for the integrated maintenance of courtyards, which include sanitary cleaning, repair of landscaping elements and maintenance of green areas. To service 4,020 courtyards and 24 million square meters of the street and road network, the 2025 budget provides 27 billion tenge with an increase of 10% compared to 2024," Yerbolat Dosayev said.
It should be noted that earlier contests for the maintenance of courtyards and streets were held once a year, and it was unprofitable for contractors to purchase expensive special equipment. This was due to concerns that they might not win the tender next year, which would make such investments unjustified.
In this regard, on behalf of the Mayor of Almaty, Yerbolat Dosayev, in order to improve the quality and efficiency of cleaning work in the city, competitions have been held since this year with the conclusion of three-year contracts with the condition of annual indexation of financing.
This measure will create a more predictable and sustainable working environment for the development of contractors. In addition, the innovation will avoid downtime in cleaning due to the absence of contractors during the competitive procedures. In turn, contractors will be able to plan expenses for the purchase of equipment and the expansion of staff.
Today, sanitary cleaning in Almaty covers 24 million square meters. m of territory; 2,318 streets with a length of 2,777 km; 1,304 km of sidewalks and 1,167 km of irrigation ditches. There are also 4,020 yards cleaned daily in eight districts of the city.
