During the Parliamentary hearings in the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the issue "Food security is the main component of national security", Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov said that the security of the domestic market for key goods exceeds the needs of the population by several times.
Thus, the provision for flour exceeds the need by 2.4 times, for rice groats, sunflower oil – 1.7 times, lamb - 106%, beef – 101%, etc.
The Minister noted that key indicators and tasks to ensure food security are noted in the strategic documents of the Ministry of Agriculture, such as the Concept of Agricultural development until 2030 and the Roadmap for increasing the volume of gross agricultural output by 2 times until 2028.
"According to the results of 10 months of this year, the positive dynamics of the industry is noted. Thus, the IFO of agriculture increased by 12.7% and amounted to 7.1 trillion tenge. The growth in crop production amounted to 18.8% or 4.5 trillion tenge, in animal husbandry - 3.3% or 2.6 trillion tenge," the minister announced the key indicators.
The head of the department recalled that the current year has become a record grain harvest: 26.7 million tons of grain have been harvested, which is 1.5 times higher than the level of 2023. Production growth is also observed for other major crops such as rice, buckwheat, oilseeds and potatoes.
Thus, the gross harvest of oilseeds amounted to 3.2 million tons, which is 46% more than last year. Rice was harvested by 16% more than in 2023, buckwheat - by 42%, sunflower seeds by 35%. 2.9 million tons of potatoes were harvested, an increase of 40%.
There was a 4.4% increase in meat production in slaughter weight (889.0 thousand tons), including beef – by 6.2%, poultry meat – by 10.3%. 3.1 million tons of milk (4.2%) and 3.8 billion chicken eggs were produced. The average milk yield in dairy farms increased by 7.4%.
"The successful development of the industry is impossible without providing an appropriate feed base. This year, 35.2 million tons of hay have been harvested, this is a one and a half year supply. For the rest of the feed, 111% of the required need has been harvested. These volumes of feed make it possible to ensure the organized wintering of farm animals," concluded Aidarbek Saparov.
