On December 5, Akim of Mangystau region Nurdaulet Kilybai received a delegation headed by Federico Pugliese, CEO of Arm Wind, and Andrea Rimoldi, Technical Director of Eni in Kazakhstan. During the meeting, a project for the construction of a hybrid power plant based on modern technologies was discussed, the construction of which the Italian energy company Eni S.p.A and JSC NC KazMunaiGas began in Zhanaozen.
At the meeting, representatives of the company familiarized with the structure of the station, noted its effectiveness and importance in the future. This plant provides stable and low-carbon electricity generation by combining solar, wind and gas power plants.
A special feature of the project is the effective coordination of various energy sources. For example, 82,000 modern solar panels will be installed at a 50 MW solar power plant, which will effectively convert solar energy into electricity. The 77 MW wind farm also includes 11 wind turbines of 7 MW each. Using the steady wind flow of the region (average speed – 8.5 m/s), the turbines will provide high performance. In addition, the 120 MW gas power plant will be equipped with 6 20 MW gas turbines.
The launch of the SES is planned in the III quarter of 2025, GAZPP – in the II quarter of 2026, WPP – in the IV quarter of 2026.
Governor of the region Nurdaulet Kilybai stressed the importance of the hybrid power plant under construction in Zhanaozen for the region and stated that he was ready to support projects aimed at the development of the region.
— We believe that the hybrid power plant will strengthen the energy security of the Mangystau region and will contribute to improving the well-being of residents. In addition, this project will reduce the region's dependence on the oil and gas industry and allow for the efficient use of natural resources. For our part, we are always ready to support all initiatives aimed at the development of the region," said Nurdaulet Kilybai.
