Anti-corruption issues discussed in Aktau

Today, on December 5, a regular meeting of the anti-corruption commission was held under the chairmanship of Akim of Mangystau region Nurdaulet Kilybai. During the meeting, the risks of corruption in the region's road sector and measures to eliminate them were widely discussed.
Ali Abdulov, Head of the Prevention Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Mangystau region, stressed the importance of issues related to the quality of roads in the region and highlighted a number of violations in this area.
- In May of this year, the Head of State criticized the quality of domestic roads. The length of public roads in the Mangystau region is 2844.1 kilometers. As a result of the analysis conducted in this area, several corruption risks were identified. So, in the region, 9 violations were registered in the construction and reconstruction of highways with a 2-year warranty for a total amount, as well as 5 facts where the warranty period is not specified at all. Based on the department's proposal, the authorized bodies extended the warranty period for road construction to 84 months, and for average repairs to 60 months," Ali Abdulov said.
In addition, at the meeting, the head of the Department of Construction, Architecture and Urban Planning, Aidos Khamiev, reported on the current state of 11 problematic social facilities in the region.
Akim of the region Nurdaulet Kilybai stressed the need to improve work in the field of highways and set specific tasks for the responsible authorities.
- The quality of roads is an important factor determining the quality of life of residents. Therefore, the elimination of shortcomings in this area, the prevention of corruption and the timely completion of construction work is our main task. Responsible authorities and contractors should keep this issue under special control," said Nurdaulet Kilybai.
