A training seminar dedicated to the World Action "16 Days of active action against gender-based violence" was held in the capital. The participants discussed approaches to the prevention of domestic violence, legal mechanisms for supporting victims and strengthening family values, the official website of the Mayor's Office of Astana reports.
The event was organized by the city Support Center of the Zhanuya Family Institute together with the Commission on Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the Akimat of Astana city.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Metropolitan Commission on Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy, the division for the protection of women from violence of the city Police Department, the Umit Crisis Center, the Union of Fathers and the Adal Zhurek project, as well as metropolitan families.
The deputy director of the Support Center of the Zhanuya Family Institute of the Akimat of the capital, Kuralai Zhanuzakova, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. In her speech, she noted the purpose of the event — to increase the effectiveness of measures to prevent domestic violence, develop legal mechanisms for social support for victims, strengthen traditional and family values, as well as clarify the norms of legislation and human rights.
"We must teach people not only not to attack or violate the personal boundaries of others, but also to protect the weak, and not to respond with violence to violence just to seem stronger. Currently, a lot of attention is paid on the Internet to help women and girls, and sometimes we forget that it is also necessary to work with men," she said.
Also, within the framework of the seminar, the inspector for the protection of women from violence of the Metropolitan Police Department, Yesil Zhanar Moldabayeva, spoke. She stressed that the prevention of domestic crimes remains one of the main tasks of the internal affairs bodies, and all legislative measures are being taken to influence family rowdies and aggressors.
"The main cause of domestic conflicts remains drunkenness. We take preventive preventive measures, such as stopping the sale of alcohol at night and being intoxicated in public places. Also, in order to strengthen prevention, work with the enrolled contingent has been intensified, and we continue to work towards compulsory treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction. Control over the processing by district inspectors of repeated calls for family scandals has been strengthened," the inspector said.
Zhanar Moldabayeva also noted another problem that needs to be solved — working with aggressors and family rowdies, including psychological correction of their behavior.
"At the meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Prevention of Offenses, we proposed to provide for the opening of specialized correctional centers to work with aggressors and develop an algorithm for interaction. In ten months of this year, Channel 102 in Astana received 8,525 appeals from citizens on the facts of aggression in families on domestic grounds. This growth is due to various problems. In conditions of loss of income within families, relations between loved ones worsen and sometimes turn into forms of violence," the speaker noted.
According to her, in 10 months of this year, 7625 protective orders were issued in the capital to prevent offenses related to violence, and 647 special requirements for the behavior of offenders were established.

Recall that the annual international campaign "16 days of active action against gender-based violence" traditionally begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on December 10, the International Human Rights Day.
