A project is being implemented in the Turkestan region that will bring cotton farming to a new level.
The ceremony of laying the capsule of the future cotton agro-industrial complex was held in the Turan special economic zone with the participation of Akim of the region Darkhan Satybalda and director of Turkestan Cotton Agro-Industrial Complex LLP Xu Jie.
The cost of the project is 146.8 billion tenge. The full-cycle textile factory will have 11 workshops - spinning, fabric production, dyeing, processing. The production capacity will be 13 thousand tons of yarn per year, 50 million meters of home textiles, 7 million sets of bed linen.
More than 2,000 jobs will be created.
The construction of an industrial complex aimed at the development of the cotton cluster will be led by Xinjiang Lihua (Group) Co., LTD.
A significant advantage of the project is the company's direct cooperation with such giants of the fashion industry as Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
In the future, sewing threads and fabrics made in Turkestan will be sold to these brands.
Turkestan region is the only region of Kazakhstan where cotton is grown. Within the framework of the "Regional Roadmap for the development of cotton production and support for the cotton and textile cluster until 2027", it is planned to create nine cotton clusters, which will reduce dependence on prices for raw cotton.
100 thousand hectares of cotton are sown annually on the territory of the region, collecting more than 300 thousand tons of products. The introduction of advanced technologies, the sowing of elite varieties of cotton according to Chinese experience allows you to optimize the consumption of water, energy, resources and increase yields to 60-65 kg/ha.
In 2023, the cotton processing plant project of Cotton Makta LLP was launched in the region. The company is equipped with modern Chinese equipment. Last year, the plant received 40,000 tons of raw cotton.
Two investment projects worth 223.5 billion tenge are also being implemented with the participation of investors from China and Uzbekistan.
