Mayor of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek announced on his Instagram page the completion of the construction of a new park near the Keruen shopping center, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
"In our capital, we are improving comfortable public spaces on the site of vacant lots. As part of the instruction of the Head of State, 170 courtyards and public spaces (parks, squares, boulevards) have been landscaped this year.
For example, earlier at meetings with residents on the site of a vacant lot near the Keruen shopping center, they promised to improve the square. This piece of land has been empty all these years. The landscaping of this territory is now being completed. The new park will embody the concept of an urban forest — a green corner where nature harmoniously combines with the urban environment.
More than 600 large-sized trees have already been planted here, which create a pleasant shade and enrich the space with greenery. In the spring, we plan to plant another 28,000 thousand perennial shrubs there to make the landscape more saturated and lively at any time of the year.
The final stages of work remain: the installation of playgrounds, benches, urns and retaining walls made of Corten steel, which will add aesthetics and durability. This new green island will become a place for recreation and walks, giving residents and guests of the city peace and quiet right in the city center," the mayor of the capital wrote.
