The average repair of the city's street and road network is being completed in Almaty. This year, on behalf of the mayor of the megalopolis, Yerbolat Dosayev, a section of the road leading to one of the main attractions of the city – the alpine sports complex "Medeu" was repaired.
The repair of Kerey Zhanibek Khandar Street, the only road to the Medeu VSC, has not been carried out for almost 15 years. At the same time, the inter–repair period of roads in Almaty is 5 years.
This year, asphalt concrete pavement has been completely replaced on a 10 km long road section. In addition, about 14 km of sidewalks have been organized for the first time to ensure the safety of pedestrians. There are also 37 self-leveling, or "floating", manholes. As of today, road markings have been applied to the entire repaired area.
"During the repair of this street, polymerasfalt concrete was used, which increases the track resistance of the coating, as well as its strength characteristics and crack resistance. The softening temperature of asphalt with polymers is higher than that of ordinary asphalt, so it withstands heat without any special consequences, respectively, it lasts longer," said Azamat Zhaisanbayev, deputy head of the Road Research and Production Center.
According to the head of the public association "Association for Road Safety "Common Road" Arsen Shakuov, new sidewalks on this site will increase convenience for pedestrians.
"The repair of this road, along which tourists and visitors of the city constantly pass, has been asking for a long time. After all, "Medeu" is one of the main attractions of the city. On weekends, the citizens themselves like to go there, many go up on foot, some take public transport and sidewalks, new markings and good road surface are a necessity," Arsen Shakuov stressed.
