With the onset of the autumn-winter period, residents are reminded of the safety rules when using electric heaters, stoves and gas equipment, because fires often occur precisely because of violations of these rules.
Thus, the staff of the Shymkent city Emergency Department pays special attention to explaining the rules for the safe use of stoves, electric heaters and gas equipment. The event was held jointly with employees of the gas service, a branch of KazTransGazAimak JSC and volunteers of the Youth Resource Center.
During the next preventive raid, inspectors informed residents belonging to socially vulnerable groups of the population, as well as residents with disabilities and pensioners of fire safety rules, rules for the operation of stoves and gas heaters. Emergency specialists explained the procedure for the safe use of electrical equipment and gas equipment, and employees of the gas inspection told about the operation of gas alarms.
In order to improve the safety culture among the population, a question-and-answer conversation was organized. Experts explained how to provide first aid in case of carbon monoxide poisoning, what are the main causes of fires and the requirements for the installation and operation of heaters. Emergency workers recalled the emergency numbers, distributed fire safety memos and showed how to clean the chimney twice a season.
Since the beginning of the heating period, more than 3,500 residential buildings with solid fuel stove heating belonging to socially vulnerable groups of the population, 83 residential buildings of citizens with disabilities and veterans have been covered by agitation. Carbon monoxide alarms are gradually being installed in these houses, 98 alarms have been installed to date, and the chimneys of 193 houses have been cleaned using a special method.
