Meeting on the development of a Nationally Determined Contribution until 2035 (ONUV) and a series of technical trainings on financial modeling

On December 4-5, 2024, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with partners GIZ, UNDP, NDC partnership, held a meeting on the development of ONUV to discuss approaches and further plans, as well as a two-day seminar on "Developing decarbonization strategies and investments to combat climate change."
The event brought together representatives of public and private organizations, international financial institutions, as well as experts in the field of climate policy and decarbonization. The main purpose of the event is to consolidate efforts for the effective implementation of Updated Nationally Determined Contributions (ONUV) Kazakhstan and a long-term low-emission development strategy.
The following issues were considered during the event:
Strategic roles and contribution of organizations to achieving Kazakhstan's climate goals.
Preliminary results of modeling decarbonization measures in key sectors of the economy.
Challenges, opportunities and data synchronization to ensure consistency of climate change mitigation measures.
The outcome of the event was to strengthen cooperation between sectors, as well as to increase the level of training of experts for the implementation of decarbonization measures and long-term climate planning.
