SKO Hub, a new center for startups and IT talents of Kazakhstan, has opened in Petropavlovsk

On December 6, 2024, the official opening of the SKO Hub, the eighteenth regional IT hub of Kazakhstan, took place in Petropavlovsk. The IT hub was created with the support of Astana Hub, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry and the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan region and will become an important element in strengthening the technological ecosystem of the region.
The hub is focused on creating a space where startups can find the necessary support for growth, and young talents can gain knowledge and skills for a successful career in IT. Its tasks include not only the development of IT education, but also the formation of a favorable ecosystem for technological entrepreneurship, stimulating digital initiatives and accelerating the processes of digital transformation in the North Kazakhstan region.
"SKO Hub is a new step in the development of the IT ecosystem in our region. We expect it to become a center of attraction for young people and people interested in developing IT infrastructure. After all, they have the real potential for further transformation," said Ruslan Alishev, Chief of Staff of the Akim of the North Kazakhstan region.
As part of the hub's work, incubation programs, educational courses, seminars and events such as meetups, workshops, forums, hackathons and other events will be organized that will ensure the exchange of knowledge and experience among the participants of the technological ecosystem.
"The opening of the SKO Hub is part of a strategy to create a sustainable technological infrastructure in Kazakhstan. In 2024, Astana Hub will open the eighteenth hub, which will be an important step in creating a unified network of support centers for innovative projects throughout the country," added Aida Dusova, Director of the Astana Hub Regional Development Office.
Currently, 18 IT hubs are actively operating in Kazakhstan, more than 1,700 events have been held, including 18 international forums. These initiatives attracted more than 50,000 participants and contributed to the creation of 440 startups. Almost 200 IT companies have joined the Astana Hub ecosystem, which contributes to the development of digital technologies and innovations in the country.
Since the opening of the regional hubs, 450 startup ideas have been developed, and GameDev centers are functioning in the Qostanai Hub and the Kyzylorda Hub. In addition, 1,555 IT companies, including 186 from the regions of Kazakhstan, are registered in Astana Hub as participants in the technological ecosystem, which contributes to the development of the IT sector in the regions.
The opening of the SKO Hub supports the strategy of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev aimed at creating innovative infrastructure in the regions and supporting young talents and technological entrepreneurship.
