The World Weightlifting Championship starts in Bahrain today

The World Weightlifting Championship starts today in the capital of Bahrain, Manama. This year, 471 athletes from 92 countries of the world, including athletes of the national team of Kazakhstan, will take part in the traditional annual tournament. The Kazakh team will defend the honor of the country in 10 men's and 5 women's weight categories.
Last year, 12 Kazakhstani athletes competed at the World Championships in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), however, unfortunately, none of them were among the winners. And at the 2022 World Championship in Bogota, our athletes won one silver and one bronze medal, taking 14th place in the team competition.
Then silver in the category up to 96 kg was brought by Nurgis Adiletuly, who lifted 383 kg in the total of the double event (jerk – 174 kg, push – 209 kg). The bronze medalist was Alexey Churkin, who competed in the category up to 73 kg with a result of 343 kg (jerk – 153 kg, push – 190 kg). Both athletes will also take part in the current tournament in Manama and will try to surpass the results of two years ago.

The World Cup in Bahrain will be held from December 6 to December 15. On December 8, Akmolda Sairamkez will be the first to step onto the platform.
