A round table "Life without violence" was held in the House of Friendship in Astana, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
At the event, representatives of government agencies, public organizations and the city Prosecutor's office discussed issues of preventing violence against women and children, protecting rights and ensuring safety in society.
They highlight measures aimed at eliminating violence, as well as innovations adopted at the legislative level and how they are implemented in society.
"The state has taken important measures to strengthen the fight against violence. Firstly, the work of law enforcement agencies has been strengthened. The Police Service thoroughly checks every report of violence and takes timely action. Among other things, there are legal mechanisms, such as the issuance of court decisions, the safe placement of the victim, and ensuring constant monitoring by the police. Secondly, in order to provide psychological and legal assistance to victims of violence, special crisis centers and counseling centers have been launched. These centers provide medical, psychological and social assistance to the victim and provide temporary housing," said Bayan Zhalmaganbetova, representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Astana.
During the event, Deputy Director of the Umit crisis Center of Astana Akimat Aigul Shamshatova shared information about the work of the center. The center, which began its work in 2013, could have housed 50 people before, and since this year the number of beds has been increased to 70. The center accepts victims aged 18 to 58 years for a period of 1 to 6 months. Bayan Toikebayeva, a member of the Commission on Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the Mayor's Office of Astana, also made her suggestions.
