Kanat Sharlapaev met with the management of the Volvo Group

Today, on the sidelines of KGIR-2024, Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev held a meeting with General Director of Volvo Group Kazakhstan LLP Radif Khasanov. During the meeting, the possibility of potential cooperation between the parties and investment opportunities in Kazakhstan were discussed.
As K.Sharlapayev noted, the automotive industry is currently one of the priority sectors of industrial development in Kazakhstan. There are 8 enterprises in the country that produce cars, trucks, specialized equipment and buses. In addition, several promising projects focused on the production of passenger cars are being implemented.
"In 2025, we plan to launch 2 major automotive projects: KIA Qazaqstan and Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan, focused on both the domestic market and export opportunities. By the end of 2025, we also plan to implement 10 projects for the production of components, which will significantly reduce the cost of production," the minister said.
All automakers work within the framework of industrial assembly agreements, which involve mutual obligations. The Minister also spoke about state support measures, including the provision of benefits based on concluded investment contracts and industrial assembly agreements aimed at creating a favorable investment environment.
Kanat Sharlapayev confirmed the readiness of the Kazakh side to provide comprehensive support at all stages of the implementation of future joint projects and expressed hope for mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation.
The Minister of Industry and Construction also held a meeting with Lehmann Lars, First Vice President for Central and Eastern Europe of Carlsberg Group, during which significant investment projects and the company's contribution to the real sector of the economy of Kazakhstan, including the development of related industries, were discussed.
In addition, a bilateral meeting was held with the Director General for Central Asia and the Caucasus of Schneider Electric, Edgard Bu-Shaheen. The parties discussed cooperation in the implementation of energy saving policy. As the participants noted, taking into account the successful experience of Schneider Electric in this field, Kazakhstan intends to deepen cooperation through a joint agreement. The agreement will focus on the following areas: the implementation of pilot projects using the energy service contract mechanism, the use of digital solutions such as data centers; cooperation on the creation of consulting services in the field of sustainable development in Kazakhstan, the study of sources of financing for energy efficiency projects.
"I am confident that our joint efforts will lead to the adoption of advanced energy-saving solutions in Kazakhstan, reducing the energy intensity of GDP and reducing greenhouse gas emissions," K.Sharlapayev said at the end of the meeting.
