Taking into account the record growth of the Almaty economy in 2023 and the formation of a high base, the dynamic development of the city's economy continues this year. This was announced by Akim of Almaty Yerbolat Dosayev, speaking at an extraordinary session of the city maslikhat, at which the budget for 2025-2027 was approved.
"In 10 months of 2024, the short-term economic indicator of Almaty accelerated to 5.2%. This is accompanied by a high level of business and investment activity. Investments in fixed assets increased by 8.2% to 1.3 trillion tenge. In the first half of this year, 3.8 billion US dollars of foreign direct investment were attracted," the head of the city informed.
According to him, the dynamic development of the Almaty economy has ensured the growth of his own income. For 11 months of 2024, 1,650 billion tenge was transferred to the budget of Almaty with an increase of 25.8%.
"According to our forecasts, Almaty's economy is expected to grow by 5.5% in 2024. In 2025, growth is projected to accelerate to 6.4%," the Mayor of Almaty noted.
At the same time, our local budget revenues continue to increase, and 95% of the budget today is formed at the expense of the city's own revenues.
"For 2025, the budget of the city of Almaty is planned for the amount of 2 trillion 177 billion tenge. This is 2 times more than at the beginning of 2022, when the budget was 1 trillion 70 billion tenge," Yerbolat Dosayev summed up.
It should be noted that the budget of Almaty remains socially oriented. Social spending increased by 15%, or 110.6 billion tenge to 851.9 billion tenge, which is almost 40% of total budget expenditures.
