Kazakhstan has created a technology ecosystem that is generating $1 billion and even $10 billion startups at a pace comparable to the world's leading technology ecosystems, including the US and China. This was announced by Yoram Wijngaarde, founder and CEO of Dealroom.co, a leading global platform for analyzing startups and venture investments.
Speaking at the Digital Almaty-2025 international forum, Yoram Wijngaarde highlighted the importance of new ecosystems and the opportunities they open up for the global market. According to him, the US and Europe remain leaders in the number of startups, but Asian countries are showing high growth rates. Kazakhstan already accounts for 15-20% of all global venture capital invested in Central Asia.
"Kazakhstan has become a significant player in the global arena of startup ecosystems. Today, many high-tech startups are developing here, and venture capital investments in the region have grown significantly. Kazakhstan is not only catching up with the US in terms of the dynamics of the emergence of "decacorns", that is, startups valued at more than $10 billion, but is also overtaking it. In a very short period of time, companies such as Kaspi.kz with a valuation of more than $10 billion have appeared in the very young IT ecosystem of Kazakhstan, which demonstrates the high potential of the Kazakhstani ecosystem in attracting international venture capital investments and creating world-class companies," noted Yoram Wijngaarde.
During the work of Dealroom.co, 101 startups in Kazakhstan were analyzed, and this is just the beginning of the study of the region. Wijngaarde expressed confidence that the database will expand significantly next year due to the strengthening of cooperation with the Astana Hub International Technopark, which will allow for a more accurate assessment of the opportunities and trends of the Kazakhstani startup ecosystem.
The integration of Kazakhstan's ecosystem into the Dealroom.co platform is of strategic importance, opening up access to international investments and partnerships.
