The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation plans to replace 19 pumping units and electrical equipment of the K. Satpayev Canal in the next 4 years. On the instructions of the Head of State, the Ministry has developed a Roadmap for the comprehensive reconstruction of the hydraulic structure, which is unparalleled in the world.
The K. Satpayev Canal provides drinking water to Karaganda, Pavlodar regions and the city of Astana. Industrial centers and farms in these three regions also use the canal's water. The total length of the hydraulic structure is 458 kilometers.
"Due to the increase in the population and the number of industrial enterprises, the demand for the canal's water resources is increasing. As part of the implementation of the Head of State's instructions, this year the Ministry will begin work on the comprehensive modernization of the K. Satpayev Canal. According to the Roadmap, we will upgrade 19 pumping units and electrical equipment by 2028. "As a result of this, we want to improve the quality of water supply and ensure the long-term and safe use of the canal," said Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Yerbolat Ibraikhanov.
