In March, traffic lights in Karaganda will be fully controlled by artificial intelligence. This will help combat traffic jams and improve traffic flow.

The mayor of the city, Meiram Kozhukhov, reported on the progress of the system's implementation at a meeting of the regional akimat's staff.

– We plan to fully complete the implementation of the "Smart Traffic Light" system in March. Today, all the necessary equipment has arrived. Currently, its installation and coordination of all traffic lights with artificial intelligence are underway, - said Meiram Kozhukhov.

The new system will regulate traffic at intersections, taking into account the intensity of traffic flow. Car owners will be able to reduce travel time. "Smart traffic lights" operate in several modes: adaptive and "green wave".

Regional akim Yermaganbet Bolekpayev instructed to accelerate the work.

Meyram Kozhukhov also announced plans to install 34 new traffic lights and 10 spherical mirrors. In addition, uninterruptible power supplies for traffic lights will be installed.

In Karaganda, they will also use artificial intelligence to detect potholes on the road. A project for a road surface analysis system is being implemented in pilot mode.

– The team has developed the core of the program. Now the video stream is collected from ambulances and vehicles of project participants. The information received is displayed on the map. There are also those who are willing to personally invest in testing the hypothesis under the project, - said Konstantin Ilnitsky, head of the Department of Informatization, Public Services and Archives.
