A large-scale school renovation project has begun in Kazakhstan: the quality of education in cities and villages will improve

In Kazakhstan, 67% of secondary education institutions (5,236 schools) are located in district and rural areas, with 1.6 million children studying in these educational institutions. Unified educational standards are being introduced for urban and rural schools, the press service of the Ministry of Education reports.
In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, it is planned to renovate 1,231 schools in all regions of the country over the next three years, including 820 schools located in rural areas.
The Ministry of Education has approved a comprehensive plan for the renovation of schools, and regional akimats have developed regional plans for 2025-2027. The renovation includes major repairs of schools, equipping them with modern classrooms, updating school furniture, modernizing libraries and canteens, building or reconstructing gyms, equipping public spaces, and providing security systems.
These measures will improve the material and technical base of schools, introduce innovative educational technologies, and improve the qualifications of teachers.
The project will be implemented over three years: 262 schools in 2025, 436 schools in 2026, and 466 schools in 2027. Additionally, 67 schools in Zhambyl region will be modernized in 2028-2029.
