Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk held talks on cooperation in agriculture. They were a continuation of the discussions raised at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the two countries.
The parties noted the general readiness of information systems for the exchange of electronic veterinary accompanying data in the field of plant quarantine. Now there is a stage of interstate testing of the Kazakh IP by the EEC. After successful completion of these procedures and integration of Kazakh and Russian information systems, participants will be able to have online access to a single database of permits for the import, export and transit of controlled goods, as well as to the register of organizations and persons engaged in the production, processing and storage of agricultural products. This will significantly simplify and accelerate the transportation of export-import operations for plant and livestock products.
The Kazakh side informed about its readiness to lift restrictions on the import and transit of pork through Kazakhstan from 16 more regions of the Russian Federation in the near future. The safety of these regions has been confirmed by the results of relevant studies and the expiration of the required time periods. Recall that this year, restrictions on the import and transit of pork from the territory of 43 regions of the Russian Federation were lifted in stages, starting in January.
The meeting participants also discussed the situation regarding the Rosselkhoznadzor's restrictions on the import of certain types of agricultural products from Kazakhstan to Russia. The parties exchanged proposals on the possibilities of an early settlement and lifting of these restrictions, which will be considered in detail by specialists of the sectoral departments of the two countries.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to hold another meeting to summarize the results of the negotiations.
