Minister of Water Resources and irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao. The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral water cooperation.

One of the priorities in the negotiations is the issue of water distribution in transboundary rivers. For this purpose, a special Working Group has been created, which includes experts from both sides. The main goal is the sustainable water supply of the Ili-Balkhash Basin, the development of Fisheries and tourism.

The Ministry of Water Resources and irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan intends to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of water management of the PRC in the future.

In addition, the parties discussed issues of joint modernization and automation of Kazakhstan's water infrastructure, development and implementation of water saving technologies, as well as professional development of Kazakhstani specialists in China.

"We have reached an agreement with Power China to conduct advanced training courses for Kazakhstani specialists in China. I think that the initiatives discussed today will give a new impetus to the bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and China, Minister of Water Resources and irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov said."
In turn, Mr. Zhang Xiao noted that the Chinese side attaches great importance to water cooperation with Kazakhstan and intends to continue the exchange of experience and technologies.
