On November 4, 2024, the 13th meeting of the Kazakh-French Business Council was held in Paris, France. The event gathered representatives of the business and industrial circles of the two countries, confirming the high level of bilateral cooperation and the desire to further strengthen business ties.
Minister of Industry and construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev made a speech at which he noted the dynamic development of the Kazakh-French industrial partnership, as well as the importance of France as one of the main economic and trade partners of the country. He noted that France is one of the 5 largest investors in the economy of Kazakhstan since 2005, with a total investment of долларды 19 billion.
Kanat Sharlapayev noted the activities of such large French companies active in Kazakhstan as Airbus, Air Liquide, Alstom, Schneider Electric, Total Energies, Orano, PCM, Lactalis, Danone, Saint-Gobain and Vicat. He spoke about important projects that are being implemented within the framework of this partnership, such as the construction of electric locomotive plants (Alstom), cement (Vicat), as well as Air Liquide's plans to expand its сутегі 80 million hydrogen production. The minister also touched upon the issues of diversification of the economy of Kazakhstan, noting that the manufacturing industry in recent years shows high growth rates compared to the oil and gas sector. According to the results of the 3rd quarter of this year, the industrial sector of Kazakhstan grew by about 5%, and the construction industry grew by 10%. It is planned to build 18 million square meters of housing, which will create a significant demand for building materials and equipment.
In his speech, the minister paid special attention to the achievements of Kazakhstan on the way to becoming a reliable supplier of the most important minerals necessary for the global value chain. Kazakhstan produces 19 of the 34 most important minerals for the European Union, including beryllium, scandium, tantalum and titanium, which are in high demand in the aerospace industry.
Kanat Sharlapayev noted Kazakhstan's readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with French business, provide comprehensive support and assistance in creating a favorable investment climate for foreign companies in the country.
