The republican Shinkiokushinkai karate tournament dedicated to Independence Day is being held in Astana at the Aspan sports complex, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
On the first day of the competition, which will last 2 days, participants will compete in the "kata" program, demonstrating the theoretical foundations of karate, and on the second day -in the "kumite" program.
"This tournament has been held for the second year in a row. Since this sport is only developing, 120 participants from 9 regions came. For comparison, this is a good indicator. Today, the winners of the kata competition will be determined by the accurate display of basic elements by athletes of different categories. The peculiarity is that some people who do not want to join the fight, and older citizens can only engage in this area. For example, our 44-year-old participant competes with young people and participates in competitions within the country," said Maxim Vavil, the chief judge of the republican tournament.
Prizes in the age categories from 8 years and older from the cities of Astana, Almaty, Kostanay, Ulytau, West Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Akmola and Abai regions are awarded in the republican competitions.
