Now residents of the Turkestan region can legally get a job in the UK, as well as in South Korea. Today, British Ambassador to Kazakhstan Katie Leach, who arrived in the region, met with Governor of Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy. Then, together with the head of the mission of the UN Migration Agency in Kazakhstan, coordinator for Central Asia Serkhan Aktoprak and Deputy akim of Turkestan region Beisenbay Tazhibayev, he took part in the grand opening of the "preliminary training center", which teaches employment abroad.
The center was created to provide information and advice to job seekers, teach languages, ensure safe migration, prepare for travel, increase experience, and provide comprehensive support in general.
The representatives got acquainted with the offices of the training center, which initially started its activities and work of the Regional "Labor Mobility Center". He spoke with citizens who intend to work abroad. The importance of the initiative was also noted at the meeting on the topic" Center for preliminary training of citizens who intend to work abroad "within the framework of the Project" Safe Migration of seasonal workers from Central Asia to the UK".
-On the initiative of the Ministry of Labor and social protection of the population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Organization for Migration in Kazakhstan, with the support of the akimat of Turkestan region, Interstate good projects will be implemented. So far, the pilot project has been implemented in 3 regions of Kazakhstan, including the densely populated Turkestan region. Currently, about 2.2 million people live in the Turkestan region. Of these, 850 thousand are able-bodied. However, 46% fall into the category of self-employed. Therefore, it is important for us to reduce unemployment. It is no secret that citizens of the country in most cases are subject to various obstacles and mistakes due to lack of language proficiency, ignorance of the laws of the destination country, and under the influence of fraudulent and unreliable companies. This initiative provides for preliminary requests from abroad and the establishment of vacancies in advance. In honor of the opening of this center, training of the first groups began. The Regional Center for labor mobility is responsible for protecting the rights and well-being of migrant workers, ensuring safe and reliable migration, improving the knowledge of participants, and coordinating the provision of other resources. Of course, we must work together with the embassy. Residents of the region should take advantage of this opportunity, – said Beisenbay Dauletovich.
Katie Leach said that it is necessary to launch a hotline of the Center for special labor mobility, provide specialists with comprehensive training and the necessary equipment. He also shared statistical data.
– In recent years, the number of Kazakhstanis coming to the UK under our seasonal workers program has increased significantly. In 2019, 4 people received a seasonal worker's visa, and in the first half of 2024 there were more than 4,400. We prioritize making sure applicants have a positive experience of living and working in the UK. For this purpose, we welcome the opening of such a specialized field training Information Center, - said the British Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
Serkhan Aktoprak noted that field training contributes to the faster adaptation of workers to a new environment. This practice is practiced in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. It has contributed to the continuous economic progress of Central Asian countries, reducing unemployment, strengthening partnerships and global migration movements.
Foreign guests then witnessed the first session of the training lecture of trainers at the branch of the Academy of Public Administration under the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Turkestan region. Participants from different regions of the Republic exchanged views and talked freely.
