The opening ceremony of the exhibition "Kazakhstan: Treasures of the Great Steppe" was held in Paris at the National Museum of Asian Arts Gimet as part of the state visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to France.
Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balayeva noted the uniqueness of the exhibits, which cover almost four millennia of the cultural phenomenon of the Great Steppe in world history.
She expressed gratitude to her French colleagues for their support in organizing the exhibition, stressing the importance of cultural interaction between Kazakhstan and France.
"Kazakh-French relations have undergone significant changes in recent years. The mutual visits of the presidents of the two countries give a new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation. I would like to express my great gratitude to my colleague, Minister Rashida Dati and Director of the Hime Museum, Dr. Yannick Linz, as well as the team of the Hime Museum for their high professionalism, well-coordinated work and support in the implementation of this exhibition," Aida Balayeva said.
The exhibition presents 35 rare artifacts from the collections of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Azret Sultan", reflecting the key stages of Kazakhstan's history.
"The high mission of the museum is to create the history of modernity by demonstrating the cultural values of the past. We have brought the most valuable exhibits, which are presented to the foreign public for the first time in a modern innovative format. Today we are witnessing the birth of a new history of the development of relations between our countries," the Minister said.
Visitors will be able to see artifacts illustrating the development of nomadic culture and statehood, from the Hunno-Sarmatian period to the Kazakh Khanate. A special feature of the exhibition was the multimedia content, which allows you to delve deeper into the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.
"At the exhibition you will see five "gioconda" of Kazakhstan. The idea of this exhibition was born a year ago during the visit of the President of France to Kazakhstan in order to introduce the culture of Kazakhstan and its significance in world history. The exhibition offers this immersive journey to Kazakhstan with its landscapes, its sounds and especially with its five masterpieces or ensembles of masterpieces, which illustrate the five stages of this civilization. From ancient history to 18th-century Kazakhstan," said Yannick Linz, Director of the National Museum of Asian Art - Hime.
The exhibition will run until March 24, 2025.
On November 5, Presidents of Kazakhstan and France Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Emmanuel Macron will visit it.
It should be noted that the event received support from the Embassy of Kazakhstan in France, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, Alstom Kazakhstan, Visor Group LLP and Kenes Rakishev.
