Representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan took part in the 8th session of the Transport Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
Within the framework of the event, Director of the Department of Transport Policy Nurlan Kenesov made a presentation on the topic "Development of transit potential of Kazakhstan". In his speech, he stressed the importance of Kazakhstan as a key transport hub in Central Asia, and also presented the prospects for the development of transport infrastructure aimed at improving the competitiveness and efficiency of transit routes.
Bilateral talks were also held on the sidelines of the Committee with representatives of the transport departments of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia and China. The participants discussed the current state of ongoing projects and outlined ways to further develop cooperation in the field of transport and transit.
In addition, a meeting was held with representatives of the OECD International Transport Forum (ITF). During the dialogue, the possibilities of conducting analytical research in the transport and transit sector on a grant basis were discussed. The ITF is launching a project to develop the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) in Central Asia, which, according to the parties, will contribute to the economic development and transport integration of the region.
The UNESCAP secretariat and representatives of the Ministry discussed the organization of the 5th Ministerial Conference on Transport, as well as the development of a Regional Action Program for Sustainable Transport Development in the Asia-Pacific Region. This program is designed to strengthen international cooperation and support the implementation of sustainable transport solutions.
The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan continues to actively coordinate work on the development of transport infrastructure and strengthening partnerships with foreign colleagues.
